About Attune

A platform for exploring ecological approaches to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through constraint-led learning environments.

Our Mission

To transform BJJ learning from prescription to exploration. We believe in creating environments where practitioners discover movement solutions through constraints, not by copying predetermined techniques.

Traditional BJJ instruction often focuses on teaching specific techniques in isolation, prescribing exact movements and positions. While this approach has value, it doesn't always prepare practitioners for the dynamic, unpredictable nature of live rolling.

Attune takes a different approach. We design learning games with defined constraints that preserve the essential features of real grappling contexts. Through exploration within these constraints, practitioners develop adaptive movement patterns and perceptual skills that transfer directly to live situations.

What is the Constraint-Led Approach?

A learning framework rooted in ecological dynamics and motor learning research

Constraints

Manipulate task, environmental, and individual constraints to guide exploration

Affordances

Action possibilities that emerge from the relationship between individual and environment

Degeneracy

Multiple movement solutions can achieve the same functional outcome

Representative Design

Learning environments that preserve informational features of real competition

Core Principles

1

No Prescription, Only Exploration

We don't tell you how to move. We create problems that invite exploration and discovery of functional movement solutions.

2

Representative Learning Design

All games preserve the perceptual and informational features of actual rolling. No static drilling, only live contexts.

3

Embrace Multiple Solutions

Degeneracy is a feature, not a bug. We celebrate functional variability and individual movement solutions.

4

Community-Driven Learning

Share discoveries, discuss emerging patterns, and learn from the collective exploration of practitioners worldwide.
